今天就是愚人节啦，也就是April Fools' Day（四月傻瓜们的节日），记住这里的fool通常都要用复数形式fools，因为全世界有很多个可爱的傻瓜们；不过，有时候愚人节也可以叫作All Fools' Day，表示全天下傻瓜们的节日，或者直接了当地叫作Fools' Day。
可能有人会有这样的疑问，为什么愚人节不是April Fool's Day？

这两种表达方法都是正确的。在维基百科上查询，出来的也是这两种表达混搭。
April Fools' Day是美国的正式说法，April Fool's Day 不是标准说法。但在真实语境中，April Fools' Day 和 April Fool's Day 的使用频率差不多。
虽然说两个都可以，但我们在学习过程中，还是尽量使用正式说法，即April Fools' Day。

愚人节的历史
The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. New Year's was celebrated on March 25 and celebrations lasted until April 1st. When New Year's Day as changed from March 25 to January 1st in the mid-1560's by King Charles IX, there were some people who still celebrated it on April 1st and those people were called April Fools.
庆祝愚人节最早是在1582年，在法国。那时，当时法国新年是在3月25日，一直持续到4月1日。16世纪60年代中期，国王查理九世把新年从3月25日变为1月1日，而还有一些人在4月1日过新年，这些人就被称作四月傻瓜了。
Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoe's untied!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"
愚人节那天的恶作剧有的很简单（比如，说句“你鞋带开了！”），有的却是精心设计的。把室友的闹钟往后调一小时是常见的。甚至新闻媒体都来凑热闹。比如，在愚人节那天，曾经有一部英国短片较为详细地记录了“种意大利面的农民”，以及他们如何从意大利面树上收获意大利面。不管是什么恶作剧，搞恶作剧的人通常在最后会对被搞的人喊一句:"四月傻瓜！"
April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!
愚人节是一个“仅限娱乐”的节日。谁也不用买礼物，也不用带着男/女朋友出去到一家豪华餐厅去吃饭。人们也不会放假。它仅仅是个搞笑的小节日，但是在这一天，每个人都要保持警惕，不然就要被人耍啦。

1. fool（n.）傻瓜；（v.）欺骗；开玩笑；愚弄
例1：“Yes！You are a fool. ” she shouts.

例2：You were fooled.
你被愚弄了。
2. prank（n.）恶作剧
例：I've had enough of your childish pranks.
我受够了你孩子气般的恶作剧。
3. trick（v.）欺骗；哄骗；（n.）诡计；恶作剧
常见短语：play a trick on（搞）恶作剧；捉弄
例1：She found that she had been tricked by the stranger.

例：Don't play a joke on him, please.

愚人节整人最常见的4大套路，用多久都不会过时：
1. Your shoelace is untied. 你的鞋带开了。
2. Look! There is some money on the floor. 快看！地上有钱。
3. Haha, your fly is open! 哈哈，你的裤子拉链没拉！
4. Hey! You dropped your wallet. 嘿！你的钱包掉了。
如果对方成功被你整了，在你感受了整人的喜悦之后，别忘了说：
I'm just pulling your leg！逗你玩呢~
I'm just messing with you！开玩笑啦~
再来8个进阶版的整人玩法，毕竟一年只有一次，可要好好玩哦：
1. Borrow someone's cellphone and change the language setting to a foreign language.
借别人的手机，把语言设置为一种外语。
2. Switch the Push and Pull signs on a set of doors.
把门上的“推”和“拉”标志互换。
3. Cup some water in your hand and pretend to sneeze on the back of someone's head.
